More generally, this IASB website has a plethora of information for (potential) candidates from how to circulate petitions and file, to how school boards work and what it takes to have a successful first year. Definitely check this resource out.
Next, the Elmhurst League of Women Voters has a treasure trove of “Observer Reports” (notes) on all board meetings going back for years. This is a quick way to read and understand the issues that come up if you haven’t been attending meetings already online or in person.
If you listen to podcasts…
… be sure to peruse the “Have You Heard” archives. They have many episodes on local school board races from across the country.
In all, that’s a good starter pack of information. If I find or remember additional resources I’ll put them in a subsequent post. You can subscribe for free to get updates pushed to your email inbox.
